2020 STCA Rotating Specialty
The Scottish Terrier Club of Greater Dayton was incorporated over thirty years ago to encourage and promote the breeding of purebred Scottish Terriers. It promotes the breed through encouraging the sportsmanlike competition at dog shows and educating the public about the characteristics of the breed. The club also conducts a Specialty show that is sanctioned and licensed by the American Kennel Club (AKC).

The Scottish Terrier Club of Greater Dayton is open to all adults who own or co-own a Scottie and are in good standing with the AKC. While the membership is unrestricted as to residence, the Club's primary purpose is to represent owners, breeders, and exhibitors within the greater Dayton area. The club requires the attendance of three functions/events in order to be sponsored for membership.

Approximately six meetings are held each year at private homes and restaurants. Picnics, Scottie walks, and fun matches are held in the warmer months. The annual meeting is held in mid August at the Winery at Morrow, OH. The Christmas party is normally held at a member's house, but in the past, has been held in a restaurant or on a dinner boat on the Ohio River.

A bimonthly newsletter, the Scots Chatter, includes club news as well as articles to encourage the well being of Scotties. It also provides other information to its members and subscribers to promote interest in the Scottish terrier breed. The club web site, www.STCGD.com, includes the very latest news and an activities list.

The club provides a rescue service for Scottish Terriers. Our rescued Scotties are spayed/neutered and updated on all immunizations, as well as bathed and groomed before going to the new home. All people wishing to adopt are carefully interviewed and screened before they are placed on a waiting list.
The Scottie is then placed where its needs are best met. Several weeks after the placement, our Rescue Coordinator will make a follow-up call to assure all is well. If for any reason the new owners decide the dog is not working out, they are to return the dog to us.

The Scottish Terrier Club of Greater Dayton affords Scottie lovers from Central Ohio the opportunity to come together for companionship and friendship to share their many stories and love of our diehard, the Scottie.
